Hey Minecraft fans! It's been a while since we posted, but we plan on posting more soon. Anyways, here is Matt's texture pack, <a href="http://www.planetminecraft.com/texture_pack/dc_dude-simple-pack/" target="_blank" title="Simply Elegant">Simply Elegant</a>, it is simple. I startedmit from scratch a few months ago and I am updating every update. It supports 1.4.5, the current version. Tell me feedback in the comments below.<br/><br/> <br/><br/>All Things Minecrafthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04088865213132304193noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7388646807910084547.post-36644264855571282552012-11-07T17:18:00.000-08:002012-11-07T17:18:10.604-08:00We're Going To MineconSE!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-XwQRlUWVfOQ/UJsITwe15hI/AAAAAAAAAKI/_o99bn0mqeY/s1024/Photo%2525202012-09-27%2525204%25253A01%252520PM.jpg" target="_blank" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img src="https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-XwQRlUWVfOQ/UJsITwe15hI/AAAAAAAAAKI/_o99bn0mqeY/s500/Photo%2525202012-09-27%2525204%25253A01%252520PM.jpg" id="blogsy-1352337490398.7832" class="aligncenter" width="576" height="288" alt=""></a></div>
Hey guys, Matt here. So recently I heard about something called MineCon se, So I researched it. Minecon is a covention run each year by Mojang. Last year in Las Vegas, this year Paris. Minceon Server Edition is different. You can build your own booth, if you are well known they give you, your own hall and there is even a stage! We're going! We aren't allowed to take pictures though. Our booth is down the hall from the PMC room. It says our site name above the door. You can find lots of cool stuff in it. Look forward to seeing you there!<br/><br/> <br/><br/>Later,<br/><br/>Matt<br/><br/> <br/><br/>All Things Minecrafthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04088865213132304193noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7388646807910084547.post-65919780283225225152012-10-13T15:10:00.001-07:002012-10-13T18:49:18.290-07:00Top 10 Minecraft SongsHey, AllThingsMinecraft here with a new blog. You can either buy a host (e.g. http://www.beastnode.com/ ) or host your own. To host your own server you should have a pretty good computer and if you have an extra computer, or its rarely used, use that. For players to connect, you either need to portforward you router or use hamachi, which is a VPN application. Tutorial links will be posted at the bottom of this tutorial. (Remeber this is a tutorial for maintaining a good server not running one)</font><br/><br/><font color="#993399" style="border-top-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-style: initial; border-color: initial; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; ">Plugins You Should Have: Essentials (comes with lots of useful commands like telportation item spawning etc), some kind of spawn plugin (e.g. EssentialsSpawn), a chat plugin (e.g. EssentialsChat, HeroChat etc), some kind of rank plugin (I suggest GroupManager) and an anti grief plugin If you are going to build some big structures or a city, you should get WorldEdit for your server.</font><br/><br/><font color="#666666" style="border-top-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-style: initial; border-color: initial; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; ">Once you have those plugins, log onto your server (if home hosted run it). Next build a spawn, you can use the mighty worldedit or build by hand depending on how big and creative you want the spawn to be. Once that is done, I suggest you make some simple rules in the spawn, once thats done set the spawn. If you don't know the command type into google PLUGIN_NAME commands and replace PLUGIN_NAME with the name. You can build more if you'd like.</font><br/><br/><font color="#cc6600" style="border-top-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-style: initial; border-color: initial; outline-width: 0px; outline-style: initial; outline-color: initial; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; ">After you have built what you wanted, and tell your friends and get other people on, with your rank plugin, look at the ranks, if you like them use them, if you dont, make your own. Once that is done, rank your friends and family to special ranks you like and everybody else will get default. Make sure that you do have some mods making sure nobody is spamming or griefing etc. if you don't want to get a rank plugin, or dont want to have to put the nodes for every plugin for mods or admins. Just op people and don't get a rank plugin.</font><br/><br/>If you have a big map get no-lagg and if you want more ram, do this, If you use bukkit, edit the .bat file by right clicking and clicking edit, once you have that, find 1024M change that to how much you want (M stands for megabytes). On the internet search gigabytes to megabytes. Then add how much you want. This version is intended to give server admins and modders a little more time to prepare for the new Minecraft version.</p><p style="padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 1.667em; margin-left: 0px; ">Minecraft 1.3 consists of a huge number of changes, and some of them are changes to the fundamental game engine. The most dramatic change is that we’ve kicked out single-player, and made it a shell on top of multi-player. There are two major benefits to this: first, it’s required for the modding api if we don’t want to have multiple implementations of every mod, and second, if we fix a bug in single-player, we know the bug is fixed in multi-player, too. Previously we had to fix bugs both in relation to single-player and multi-player.</p><p style="padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 1.667em; margin-left: 0px; ">Here’s a compact list of what the update will bring…</p><p style="padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 1.667em; margin-left: 0px; "><strong style="padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; ">Minecraft 1.3: The Good</strong></p><p style="padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 1.667em; margin-left: 0px; ">Lots and lots of bug fixes and new features. Players who mainly play in multi-player on servers should enjoy a smoother and more stable experience, as this has been our focus of the development. We’ve looked over the network packets and added encryption to prevent session stealing. Dinnerbone has updated the chatting screen, to allow for easier editing and clickable links.</p><p style="padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 1.667em; margin-left: 0px; ">The single/multi-player merge has added the possibility to share your single-player worlds with friends who are on the same local network. It has also enabled players to use multi-player-like commands in single-player (such as /gamemode and /give), but only if cheats are enabled.</p><p style="padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 1.667em; margin-left: 0px; ">We’ve added emeralds, emerald ore and a trading system that makes it possible to buy items from villagers. Villagers will add and remove items depending on what you buy.</p><p style="padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 1.667em; margin-left: 0px; ">We’ve added the possibility write in books and leave stories for other people.</p><p style="padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 1.667em; margin-left: 0px; ">We’ve added new terrain features, and you can choose to begin the game with a “bonus chest,” to get you started quicker.</p><p style="padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 1.667em; margin-left: 0px; ">We’ve added tripwire, so you can create new traps and contraptions.</p><p style="padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 1.667em; margin-left: 0px; ">We’ve also added new stairs, new half-slabs, cocoa plants and tweaked dispensers, leaves, cauldrons, levers, gravel, pressure plates, cookies, buckets, boats, minecarts, ice, furnaces… Plus you get magic orbs from mining and smelting (and not just killing monsters)!</p><p style="padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 1.667em; margin-left: 0px; "><strong style="padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; ">Minecraft 1.3: The Bad</strong></p><p style="padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 1.667em; margin-left: 0px; ">Since single-player has been turned into a shell on top of a background server, the game’s resource requirements have increased. When playing single-player, the game needs to be able to both simulate and emulate the world, which take many more CPU cycles. We’re working on optimizing rendering, but those improvements will not be included until Minecraft 1.4.</p><p style="padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 1.667em; margin-left: 0px; "><strong style="padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; ">Minecraft 1.3: The Ugly</strong></p><p style="padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 1.667em; margin-left: 0px; ">A couple of problems and expected features have been pushed to Minecraft 1.4. The most notable problem is the lighting issues causing black regions in the terrain. We’re looking into ways to solve this, but lighting is a very expensive calculation and we are struggling with finding a solution that doesn’t hurt framerate.</p><p style="padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 1.667em; margin-left: 0px; ">And the most notable missing feature is the modding API. Throwing out single-player was the first step in order to make the API possible, and that’s done now. We decided to release 1.3 without the API, because otherwise it would be an even longer wait for a Minecraft update.</p><p style="padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 1.667em; margin-left: 0px; ">We’ve also added an extremely basic version of “adventure mode.” We’ll work more on this in future updates.</p><p style="padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 1.667em; margin-left: 0px; "><strong style="padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; ">To Summarize</strong></p><p style="padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 1.667em; margin-left: 0px; ">The time between Minecraft 1.2.5 and 1.3 has been the longest update interval yet, and that was because we changed so much in the game engine. I (jeb_) was a little scared to push it to the public, but waiting even longer is not a solution.</p><p style="padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 1.667em; margin-left: 0px; ">If you want to get the whole Minecraft 1.3 change log, I suggest you read redstonehelper’s great summary here:<a href="http://www.reddit.com/r/edstonehelper/comments/p6lol/planned_for_the_next_update/" style="padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; text-decoration: underline; color: rgb(221, 79, 59); ">http://www.reddit.com/r/edstonehelper/comments/p6lol/planned_for_the_next_update/</a></p><p style="padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 1.667em; margin-left: 0px; "><strong style="padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; ">Snapshot 12w27a</strong></p><ul style="padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 1.667em; margin-left: 1.667em; list-style-type: square; list-style-position: initial; list-style-image: initial; "><li style="padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; ">Bug fixes!</li><li style="padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; ">Optimizations!</li><li style="padding-top: 0px; padding-right: 0px; padding-bottom: 0px; padding-left: 0px; margin-top: 0px; margin-right: 0px; margin-bottom: 0px; margin-left: 0px; ">Please check your piston contraptions. Mojang wking on system<font class="Apple-style-span" size="4">Hey Fellow Minecrafters,</font><br/><br/><font class="Apple-style-span" size="4">Everyone of us had that hard choice to pick a username at the beginning when buying Minecraft. That username which you have picked will be stuck with you forever and cannot be changed at all. But what if you gave yourself a name that is just silly or inappropriate? What if you’re tired of the current name you have just because you had to add random letters or numbers because the name you wanted was picked? Well, this means you need to get a new copy of the game and register again to get the username you like.<br><strong>But maybe not for long anymore?</strong></font><br/><br/><font class="Apple-style-span" size="4">Jens Bergensten, one developer of Minecraft, hinted that username changes might be a feature in the future. Tobias Mollstam would already look into creating a new system for usernames. Everyone who bought Minecraft would receive a free name change. There might also be a “Username history” where you are able to see the previous names of a player.</font><br/><br/><font class="Apple-style-span" size="4"> </font><br/><br/><strong><font class="Apple-style-span" size="4">How can we Ban, OP and Whitelist people with the new system?</font></strong><br/><br/><font class="Apple-style-span" size="4">The new Minecraft username system would work like Steam ID’s do. Every account which is premium(bought version) will have an unique ID. Players will not get banned, receive OP or be whitelisted by their name, but by their unique ID. If an account is banned on your server the player can change his name to whatever he wants but the ban will not get lifted/removed since his ID does not change.</font><br/><br/><font class="Apple-style-span" size="4">You can get a list of all accounts you own via an E-Mail.
